LAS VEGAS — Actors and actresses including Reese Witherspoon and Jamie Lee Curtis died Saturday after a crash on a Las Vegas Strip carousel that left two people injured, authorities said.
A man who died at the scene and a woman who was treated for injuries to her neck were taken to a hospital in critical condition, said MGM Resorts International.
Police said they are investigating what happened when the man and the woman fell from a carousel in front of a Las Vegas nightclub.
They were apparently in the wrong place at the wrong time, the police statement said.
The two were found in a car, about a block from the entrance of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino, said police.
They died at a hospital, said Las Vegas Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Michael Meeks.
A witness reported seeing a white sedan that appeared to have a black roof with a silver roof on the end.
Police said the car is believed to be the one involved in the crash.
The driver of the car was arrested and taken to the hospital for evaluation.
A passenger was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, authorities told NBC News.
No other information was immediately available.
