According to Chinese news site the Global Times, the Chinese government has banned octopus as a food delicacy in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
According to the Chinese Food and Drug Administration, it is illegal to sell octopuses to consumers under age 18 and to offer them as “dessert” or to “make it for special occasions.”
It’s a tough law, but it could still have an effect on how Samsudan chefs serve their dishes.
And the country has its own history of banning food products from the U, including a banned product in the form of the Sesame Seed Doughnut.
